People’s Choice Award Winners
People’s Choice Award Winners

The Hunger Games was a huge winner at last night’s People’s Choice Awards, taking home six, including Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Actress for Jennifer Lawrence and Favorite On-Screen Chemistry.  “Thank you for loving movies as much as I do,” said Jennifer.  (Who will likely wake up this morning to news she’s an Oscar nominee for another film, Silver Lining Playbook.)

Also on the movie side, Emma Watson proved a winner even when she plays a muggle. Emma won Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress and her film The Perks of Being a Wallflower won Favorite Dramatic Movie.  Robert Downey, Jr. was a double winner for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Movie Superhero.

The night’s biggest individual winner was Katy Perry. Katy scooped up four Awards: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Video and even Favorite Music Fan Following.  In other music awards, dueling boy bands The Wanted and One Direction each scored big, with The Wanted picking up Favorite Break-Out Artist and One Direction winning Favorite Song with “What Makes You Beautiful”.

And the winners are…

About Tim White

Boy, time does FLY. Born and raised here, I’ve had spent the last 25 years in broadcasting. Beginning full-time work in November of 1987, just a few months after graduating from North High School. In 1996 I graduated from Grand View College with a Business Degree. I began The Morning Show at Lite 104.1 in 1997. It's a pleasure to start each weekday with you.

A little bit about me personally: I live near Des Moines with my wife Michelle and I have four kids to keep me busy. I love to run/jog and try to do 10-15 miles per week and also bike in the summer. I enjoy golf but rarely get to play. I have a pilots license but rarely fly either. We love to vacation in Las Vegas or Southern California and have been to both many times. Closer to home, Okoboji is fantastic. We spent some time there last summer and loved it! Can't wait to return.

Keep up with me on Facebook or Twitter: @timwhitedsm and listen to me on Lite 104.1 weekday mornings from 5 to 10am and Saturday mornings from 6 to 10am.
