A new study shows the anxiety of being a new mom can trigger mental disorders. To find this, researchers from Northwestern Unviersity followed 461 women after giving birth. Eleven-percent of the women reported that they had intrusive thoughts and exhibited repetitive behaviors within two weeks of delivery. Researchers say that rate of OCD is two to three-percent more than that of the general population, and 5.4-percent developed more symptoms within the next six months. It’s notable that 75-percent of the women who developed OCD symtoms were suffering from post partum depression.
