The Ankeny Community Chorus has and continues to provide a venue for choral music within our community, and an opportunity for music education and community fellowship not offered in any other simlar manner. It has been a wonderful outlet for both our youth and our senior citizens. Our performances have enhanced the meaning of many events througout the year. Several entities in our community suport and promote our activities on a regular basis. These include the City of Ankeny Leisure Services Department, the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce and Ankeny Schools Community Education Department.
The program for the Ankeny Community Chorus involves six main concerts throughout the year…one in the spring, one in the fall, one at the Iowa State Fair, Ankeny's Annual Baccalaureate service in May, the City of Ankeny's "Summer Sounds" program at the Ankeny Band Shell in July and the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Luncheon in December.
Our mission is to allow residents of Ankeny an opportunity to share their talents in a structured setting that will built community and provide opportunities to entertain within the Ankeny area. The chorus is open to all with a passion for music and singing. The chorus will perform at least three concerts per year. Most concerts will be at no charge to the community to share goodwill and to thank them for their support throughout the year.
