The Harmony Central Chorus is an award winning Central Iowa show chorus that performs in unique a cappella and barbershop harmonies. Nearly 40 auditioned female singers combine to present a lively mix of voices singing close 4 part harmonies enhanced by creative movement and choreography. The Chorus produces an annual concert and show performed each fall at Hoyt Sherman Place Auditorium and has entertained throughout Central Iowa for many businesses, organizations, charitable events and civic groups. Harmony Central Chorus also represents Des Moines and Central Iowa annually at a regional competition with nearly 20 other Sweet Adelines International affiliated choruses from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Harmony Central is perennially one of the top choruses in this region and is currently third place in the mid-size chorus division and fourth place overall.
Harmony Central Chorus has been singing and harmonizing in Central Iowa for more than 52 years. The chorus is under the artistic direction of Cheryl Doser of Windsor Heights, and Diana Latch of Ankeny. The Chorus is constantly recruiting and auditioning new members and furthering the musical education of their current members. Harmony Central Chorus is an Iowa registered non-profit organization.
