Mom's Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Ingredients
  • 2 packages yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
  • 2 2/3 cups warm water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 3 tbsp. soft oleo or shortening
  • 7 - 9 cups flour
  • 1 ½ cup raising (more or less)
  • 1 - 2 eggs
     
Directions
  1. Dissolve yeast in ¾ cup warm water.
  2. Stir in 2 2/3 cup warm water, sugar, salt, shortening and 4 cups flour.
  3. Beat well with mixer or by hand for about 3 minutes.
  4. Mix in remaining flour and raisins to make dough easy to handle. Turn out on lightly floured board.
  5. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place in greased bowl, greased side up. Let rise until double in size.
  7. Divide dough into 3 parts and pat out in rectangles and sprinkle with white sugar and brown and cinnamon and roll into loaves and place in greased pans.
  8. Let rise 1 hour and bake 1 hour in 350 degree oven. Makes 3 loaves.
