Adele keeps Van Halen off top of album chart

Adele's Grammy hype has helped the singer score another big week on the U.S. album chart - keeping reunited rockers Van Halen off the top.

Van Halen's long-awaited comeback "A Different Kind of Truth" was expected to end Adele's 19-week reign at number one on the Billboard 200 - but the Brit's 21 has scored a 20th week at the top thanks to a Grammy-related sales surge.

Adele made a stunning live comeback after throat surgery in 2011 at the Grammys on Sunday and took home six awards, including Album of the Year.

And partly thanks to the buzz, her 21 sold a stunning 237,000 in the U.S. last week - 50,000 more than Van Halen's new release, which debuts at two.

Ironically, the 20-week tally ties the longest run at the top of the chart since Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" soundtrack spent 20 weeks there in 1992 and 1993.

Adele's first album, 19, also makes a return to the top 10 at nine.

Meanwhile, the Now 41 compilation debuts at three on the new countdown and The Fray's Scars & Stories enters the chart at four.

Paul McCartney returns to the top five at five with his new standards album "Kisses on the Bottom" - the former Beatle's 18th top 10 hit.

And Whitney Houston's death on Saturday prompted a sales surge for the tragic superstar - "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" re-enters the chart at number six and becomes one of six Houston albums on the Billboard 200.
